Nothing breathes luxury and refinement quite like high quality leather goods. Although the initial investment might feel like quite the strain on our personal treasury, few things fit the classic Henry Royce quote “the quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten” better than leather goods. Whether is it is a belt, a document portfolio or a weekend bag you can be sure a high quality piece will age beautifully. In time, it will develop a wonderful patina, telling a story of your life and your little adventures together. While the most renown craftsmen, luxury brands and tanneries might come from France, England, Italy and Spain we can find fantastic producers coming from less obvious origins as well. We recently discovered newly launched Swedish brand Vichithong, who specializes in small leather accessories such as iPad cases, document holders and laptop bags. The brand was founded in 2012 by Arunrat Vichithong. Arunrat is originally from Gnosjö in Sweden where she grew up watching her father, who is a leatherworker, practicing his craft. Anunrat herself took up her fathers craft at a young age, so even though the brand itself is quite new, Arnunrat has over 15 years of experience in the trade. Vichithong’s products are all handmade by a small team of craftsmen in Arunrats hometown of Gnosjö, using high quality leathers that are sourced mainly from Italy. As you can see for yourself the products have a really nice finish to them when new, but Anunrat assures us it is nothing compared to what will develop when used over time. They are meant to give you years of regular use, the leather becoming softer and more beautiful each year. For a closer look at Vichithong’s products we suggest you head over to www.vichithong.com at once. We'll soon be posting some pictures of our first puchase from Vichithong, so be sure to stay tuned! Anonymous asked: what brand is that beautifull jacket 22 feb??

It’s from Morris Heritage, which is a “premium” collection from the swedish brand Morris Stockholm. The fabric is a wool/cashmere blend by Vitale Barberis Canonico, and I’m sure you can find other makers who’ve used the same fabric in some of their jackets.

“The reason that the rich were so rich, Vimes reasoned, was because they managed to spend less money.

Take boots, for example. He earned thirty-eight dollars a month plus allowances. A really good pair of leather boots cost fifty dollars. But an affordable pair of boots, which were sort of OK for a season or two and then leaked like hell when the cardboard gave out, cost about ten dollars. Those were the kind of boots Vimes always bought, and wore until the soles were so thin that he could tell where he was in Ankh-Morpork on a foggy night by the feel of the cobbles.

But the thing was that good boots lasted for years and years. A man who could afford fifty dollars had a pair of boots that’d still be keeping his feet dry in ten years’ time, while the poor man who could only afford cheap boots would have spent a hundred dollars on boots in the same time and would still have wet feet.

This was the Captain Samuel Vimes ‘Boots’ theory of socioeconomic unfairness.”

Anonymous asked: Do you recommend H&M cardigans and how would you assess their quality?

Not really. You tend to get what you pay for, but sometimes H&M knitwear can be surprisingly good for the price. I have three H&M cardigans of exactly the same model, the only difference being the colour. Two of them have held up great for two years of regular use, while one was ruined after one wash.

Hit-and-miss really. But for budget knitwear I hear good things about Uniqlo.

luxelite23 asked: You've put together well rounded wardrobe. What would you say the first big ticket item should be to establishing a new look?

Hehe no, I haven’t. I’m the lousiest person in the world at building a basic wardrobe, I just end up buying stuff that I find cool at the moment.

But if you want to go #menswear, get yourself a well fitting blue jacket, some white and light blue shirts and some nice shoes.

socklessnotscotchless asked: Just discovered your blog via Sartorial Doctrine - great stuff. You have a lot of brands that are new to me in the US, but that are on Yoox. Which = awesome but expensive.

Thank you very much! It means a lot to me.

To be honest I don’t pay huge amounts for my wardrobe, I’m a student so I have to do what I can with limited means. That means outlets, fantastic friends who hook me up with some great stuff I couldn’t afford otherwise and a great part time job that gives me access to fantastic stuff.

It’s all about patience and looking hard for those great deals.
